foodie bookclub :: it's so ON!
okay, so the few of us who have decided to do this thing!
a book club is born!
we have come up with some options for the first book as well as the name of the book club. if you wanna join in, by all means, DO! send me an email (kate the clean plate club net) or comment on this post (make sure to leave an email address). please do not vote unless you are participating in the club.
those who have joined up so far are as follows:
me - the clean plate club
jessica - mango missives
jacque - daisy lane cakes
arika - my yummy life
natashya - living in the kitchen with puppies
tami - tami's kitchen table talk
melody - trap door
please check these out and leave a comment stating your votes (pick only one name and only one book, please!!)
1. BOOK CLUB NAMES that are far better than "foodie book club:"
:: Words To Cook By
:: Words To Eat by
:: The Culinary Words
:: Eating Our Words
:: Food For Thought
2. choices for the FIRST BOOK TO READ (this was hard! i said i would whittle the list down to 5, but i couldn't do it! this was the best i could do! but that's good. there's a lot of great books out there for us to devour:
Consuming Passions:A Food Obsessed Life by Michael Lee West
Food in History by Reay Tannahill
The Making of a Chef: Mastering Heat at the Culinary Institute by Michael Ruhlman
My Life in France by Julia Child
Waiter Rant: Thanks for the Tip--Confessions of a Cynical Waiter by Steve Dublanica
Broccoli and Other Tales of Food and Love by Lara Vapnyar
The Tenth Muse: My Life in Food
3. if you had it your way, would we decide every book by vote like this or would a different member choose the new book every month?
thanks! can't wait to get going. let's pick a book!

How exciting.
I vote for:
Consuming Passions:A Food Obsessed Life by Michael Lee West
and Food for Thought.
I'm good either way on the way we choose a book.
Woops! I almost completely missed this post!
Food For Thought
Waiter Rant
I think it'd be fun to take turns chosing a book, but I'd be fine with voting as well. I'm excited!
Arika
My Yummy Life
Eating our Words
Waiter Rant
I don't know on the choosing part. Voting is OK, unless you never get your pick, lol. Chosing is OK if you're in the first dozen or so. I'm a lot of help, aren't I?
Name: Food for Thought
Book: Consuming Passions
Maybe each month a different person can suggest a list of 3 or so books and the rest vote on them.
Thank you for the reminder! I've been so busy with my kids' school the last couple of days.
Here are my picks:
Name--Eating Our Words
Book--Broccoli and Other Tales of Food and Love
I think that it would be fun if one person a month could post two books to choose from and then everyone would vote on it. :)
I, too, like Eating Our Words.
For the book? I haven't read any of them, the Broccoli one sounds good.
I am also going to give the book club info to a friend.
